RESTUARANTS IN SÖDERMALM

Firstly, let’s make sure you understand the Swedish word “fika” which means having a coffee together with a pastry or sandwich of your choice. “Fika” you can do at any time of the day and as many times as you would like to.

There are many nice places in Stockholm to have a fika, especially on Södermalm. At Bysistorget, not far from Hellstens Malmgård, you will find Kaffebar – a favourite among Södermalmers, that serves immaculate espresso coffee together with pastries or a sandwich. The opposite direction, in the direction of Hornstull, you find Café dello Sport – an Italian café where you will get a perfect espresso together with Italian dolci. At Café dello Sport, you can also order one of Stockholm’s best pizzas. Continue you stroll towards Hornstull and meet the vast range of cafés and restaurants at some of Södermalm’s most exciting blocks.

Since there is quite a lot of shopping and things to do, you will probably get hungry and a fika will no longer do the trick. For you who crave for lunch, Hornstull offers a swarm of restaurants. Why not go to Hornhuset, where modern architecture frames many restaurants. For you who are looking for a quieter place, we recommend a further walk down to the waterfront at Bergsunds strand, where you can have homemade soup and a lunch sandwich at Vurma.

If you are bound eastwards, why not grab a quick lunch at organic and trendy Kalf & Hansen or have what is known to be Stockholm’s best falafel at Falafelbaren – both a few blocks away from Hellstens Malmgård, at Mariatorget.

Now the day has passed and you are in for dinner. We highly recommend a visit to our own hideaway Hellstens Glashus Restaurant and Bar, just a few blocks away, around the corner from Mariatorget. Between the unique glass facade and the brick walls from the former metalworks, you’ll find Glashuset Restaurant and Bar. A dazzling seven meters from floor to ceiling creates a special atmosphere in this extraordinary venue on Södermalm. Consisting of exposed rock face from millions of years ago, we dare to say that we have the oldest floor you’ll ever place your feet on whilst ordering a drink. A familiar restaurant, large in heart, where the food is cooked from scratch.

You also might want to visit Häktet, once a custody house for the indebted. A modern classic menu is here served in rustic environments. Down at Hornstull, youwill again find a range of restaurants with different cuisines and directions. Why not Asian at Bistro Barbro or a quick, but delicious, hamburger at KÄK.
